Lodge charity donations 2026
Barr Beacon WM Joe Bannister today presented a donation cheque for £800 to Sharron Needham and Sue Norry of Square Peg Charity. Square Peg is a centre for SEND children to have some of their own time away from, for what is for them the extreme stresses of a school day or what is to parents and carers even a normal day. The centre has events geared towards these children or even a quiet place just to be on their own for a while. By default, it also greatly helps the parents as there are people who "know" what it is like to have and raise SEND children. Joe says “I have 2 grandchildren who attended the centre. The difference in them because of Square Peg attending is remarkable”. Again Barr Beacon Lodge are proud to support such a worthwhile charity.
Barr Beacon Lodge No. 6109 was delighted to present an £800 donation to the Stan Bowley Trust, with Worshipful Master Joe Bannister handing the cheque to Rona Johnson.
The Trust does invaluable work funding laser surgical equipment, training and maintenance, as well as providing accommodation for families of patients receiving treatment at the QE Hospital.
Rona expressed her sincere thanks, saying, “This will save lives.”
Barr Beacon Lodge is proud to support such a worthwhile charity and thanks the Stan Bowley Trust for the incredible work it continues to do for patients and their families.
W.Bro. Chris Hill recently took on the challenge of walking 100 miles in May 2026, raising funds for the charity Prostate Cancer Research.
Chris along with a number of other Brethren of the Lodge have been successfully treated for Prostate Cancer and the support the Lodge members who have generously given to support both Chris and the charity are very much appreciated.
Raising awareness of the need to be checked for this cancer is so important, as one on every eight men in the UK will be affected in their lives. Early diagnosis is vital.
